INACTIVE - The module involves instruction and practice in translation techniques for a variety of texttypes from the domains of science and technology from French as a source language intoEnglish as a target language.

Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate an ability to apply advanced translation strategies for a variety of text types within thedomains of science and technology and from French as a source language into English as a targetlanguage.
2. Create native-speaker, domain-specialist level target language texts, which are fluent and accuratetranslations of the source text.
3. Work under pressure of time to create advanced translations using a computer and an array of onlineand hard-copy resources.
4. Locate, critically evaluate and utilise relevant terminological/textual resources, including those createdby international standards bodies, (inter)national associations, and commercial companies.

Texts for translation will be drawn from a variety of sources e.g. technical reports, specialist journal articles, technical manuals and promotional material, on topics covering different areas of science and technology..
