Description
This module sets the level B1.1 from the Common European Framework of Reference as its minimum exit level. It aims to enable students to apply actively the language skills and knowledge required at B1.1/Intermediate level (including those developed in complementary modules such as GE130) in the production of collaborative, creative pieces that relate to the target cultures (e.g. Sketche, Kurzgeschichten, Kurzfilme, Flashmobs).It also focuses on the critical reading of authentic materials from a variety of genres in order to enhance (inter)cultural understanding and language awareness and to develop information retrieval skills. Students will be guided in the use of group work, (DaF)language learning strategies and transferable skills.

Learning Outcomes
1. Prepare and deliver a creative cultural 'production' in the target language.
2. Retrieve information on the cultural, social or political matters of relevance to the creative 'production' from a variety of both spoken and written German language sources.
3. Apply the range of grammatical and lexical features required of Level B1.1 in spoken and written discourse relating to specific themes.
4. Interact with native-speakers of German in the context of conducting research in preparation of the cultural 'production'.
5. Communicate both orally and in a written report details of language development, group work, project planning, organisation and delivery.
