This module is designed: To enable students to acquire language skills that allow them to engage in academic activities in the course of their year abroad;To provide students with skills that enable them to become autonomous learners of business-related subjects through the target language.More specifically, it is designed to prepare students: To research a specialised topic; To evaluate and monitor, individually and in groups, progress and achievement; To manage their own learning.Exit level: CEFR B1.2

Learning Outcomes
1. Find articles in German on business topics.
2. Participate in a discussion of business topics through German.
3. Translate a short English text into German.
4. Demonstrate an understanding of a German text.
5. Write a short, creative piece in German demonstrating a good degree of fluency and accuracy.

Independent learning89Preparation for seminars including reading of texts in advance, preparation of translations, arguments for discussion etc. Post-seminar work including consolidation of a material covered and completion of assignments.

Indicative Content and Learning Activities
Preparation for study abroad.
Reflection on cultural differences and linguistic preparation for daily life, participation in University life and in a work environment..

German grammar.
Consolidation of work done in semesters one to three with additional topics covered including the use of the passive, conditional, relative clauses, modal verbs, adjectives, and subordinate and coordinating clauses..
