Description
This module sets the level B2 from the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) as its minimum exit level. The overall objective of the course is to assist students to become fully autonomous language learners and to enable them to achieve the level of written and oral fluency that will be required of them in an intercultural workplace at home or abroad. It also aims to further develop the students' ability to apply a range of transferable skills such as time management, team work, project management and oral presentation skills

Learning Outcomes
1. Extract information from a wide range of long and complex documents and audio-visual sources related to the theme of globalisation.
2. Present a complex topic in an interactive manner to a specialised audience with a high degree of fluency appropriate to this level.
3. Demonstate a high level of language accuracy at B2 level
4. Critically evaluate their work and that of their peers
5. Write a clear and well structured report on objectives, methodology, content and summary of findings of work carried out within a working group
6. Use on-line and hard copy resources, e.g. dictionaries, thesaurus, valency grammars, parallel corpora for life-long learning

Indicative Content and Learning Activities
German language 5 (non-core).
The syllabus adopts an interactive and communictive approach. Students will be asked to engage in a group project based on their needs, interests and area of specialism, within the general theme of Germany in an expanded Europe, 'Gastarbeiter', immigration and emigration.At the end of the unit students will demonstrate their ability to communicate their work methodology and their findings, to engage in a well argued discussion and to involve their peers in an interactive manner..
