This module covers issues relevant to Personal Development Planing (PDP), such as developing skills and qualities. Specifically, it provides students with an understanding of the skills and abilities at both (i) an individual and (ii)group level that they will need in order to operate successfully during their time in university and in their future careers. Students are expected to attend lectures, engage in self-reflective exercises, prepare for and contribute to class discussions. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Introduction to Personal Development Planning. What is PDP? Why is PDP relevant for (i) your time at university, (ii) for your private life, and (iii) for your future career?. Learning about specific skills. In this section students will learn about specific skills and engage in self-reflective exercises relating to topics such as for example, Developing Information Skills, Persuasion Skills,Negotiation Skills, and Presentation Skills.. Managing yourself and your project. This section provides students with the knowledge and skills to engage in the group project which has to be completed for this module (worth 70 marks). Developing information skills and the role of the library, project management, the future of work. The vision - Managing yourself. This section includes activities and structured reflection on a range of issues such as: What success really means for you;Looking at your own life and life story; Increasing motivation; Thinking about future career optionsIdentifying how you perform best. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
