Description
The aims of this module are to give the student a grounding in industrial relations theory while also facilitating an understanding and an appreciation of such important industrial relations concepts as minimum wage, industrial action and industrial democracy.

Learning Outcomes
1. Discriminate between a selection of industrial relations theories and their individual usefulness in explaining what industrial relations is actually about.
2. Assess minimum wage as an issue with the potential of eradicating poverty amongst workers.
3. Analyse the various forms of industrial action in terms of achieving the desired results of either employees or employers by its calculated use when negotiations fail.
4. Question the 'divine right of management to manage' by considering other forms of workplace decision making such as those offered by employee participation and employee involvement.
