Description
This module is designed to provide the opportunity for students to apply the knowledge and competencies that they have gained throughout the programme to a healthcare organisational change project. Students are required to introduce change using an action research methodology which promotes a systematic, scientific and theory based approach to change. The project enables students to action a ‘real’ and meaningful work based intervention that promotes both a greater understanding of organisational systems and a collaborative approach to organisational change.

Learning Outcomes
1. Explain the value of action research approaches to change management
2. Critique the key discussions and debates relating to action research and change
3. Evaluate an organisation issue using change management and action research principles
4. Recommend an appropriate change management approach through the use of action research
5. Self-evaluate their developmental needs, particularly in terms of action research competencies and establish associated developmental goals
6. Reflect upon their thoughts, feelings and experience of carrying out an organisational change management project.

Understanding the influence of context on action research applied to organisational change management.

The introduction of change through the application of action research.
Change and action in practice. Examination of opportunities and challenges inherent in carryout organisational change.

Exploration of key principles of research ethics with a focus on issues related to action research..
