The purpose of this module is to explore the psychological issues within organisations and to explore the challenges faced by employees in contemporary work settings. The module focuses particularly on issues related to optimal work design and employee well-being. Students will learn how to analyse behaviours and processes within organisations at a number of levels and will develop skills in the application of psychological theories to solve problems and improve organisational functioning. This module will also facilitate students in integrating and synthesising the other elements of the degree (management, ethics etc.).

2. Apply psychological theory to work settings and prescribe solutions to organisational issues based on such analyses
3. Contrast differing approaches to organisations taken by different professional groups
4. Write a literature review according to highest academic standards

Introduction to the field of Work and Well-Being.
This section explores and explains the nature, history processes and functions of Organizational Psychology and its role in contributing to effective organisations..

Psychological contract at work.
This section looks at the importance of psychological contract at work and its relevance in organizational change processes. Definition of psychological contract, types of psychological contracts, violation of psychological contract, psychological contract and organizational change.

Stereotypes and Diversity in the Workplace.
In this section students will learn about the benefits and costs of diversity in the workplace. The issues of stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination as well as diversity will be studied from an individual as well as a group perspective which will incorporate an analysis of how young people are socialized into the business environment..

Job Design for optimal workplace functioning.
This section examines traditional and contemporary perspectives of work design theory. The relative importance of task significance, autonomy, relational mechanisms and individual differences will be debated. The effectiveness of work design in terms of performance and well-being will also be explored..

Team Performance.
Teams can be seen as fundamental to organizational success. This section will present the students with theories and empirical findings on factors underlying team performance and biases in decision making. Performance management for teams and interventions to reduce biases in group decision making will be discussed..

Occupational Health.
This section will examine how the health and safety of organisational members can be promoted, emphasising such features as theories and causes of workplace stress, burnout, engagement and work-life balance. Maintaining well-ebing through periods of significant challnge and transition will also feature in this section..

Decision Making.
This section explores the various theoretical perspectives underpinning the process of decision-making and considers the contribution each makes to enhancing the methods by which effective and appropriate decisions are made in the organisational context..
