This module provides students an insight into Irish Industrial Relations and a general appreciation of how it works. Additionally, it provides an understanding of the breadth and depth of the similarities and differences in the structure of international industrial relations in selected areas. This module will help students make sense of what is happening in the field of industrial relations and its interactions with an increasingly competitive business settings. 1. Critically analyse the role of trade unions and employers’ associations in Ireland 2. Examine similarities and differences between national systems of industrial relations in liberal-market economies and in coordinated market economies 3. Assess the role and influence of international institutions in setting international labour standards 4.
