This is an introduction to consecutive interpreting skills from Japanese to English for students who have little or no experience of interpreting. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Learning Outcomes | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

1. Interpret greetings and expressions commonly used in Japanese speeches 2. Analyse, and identify the main points in a speech in Japanese on a topic such as politics, the environment, societal issues, economics, trade, etc. 3. Use typical note-taking techniques and memory to capture the meaning of a speech delivered in Japanese and to deliver the main points of that speech in English. 4. Deliver the English interpretation of a Japanese speech on cue, fluently and in the appropriate register. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Bilateral interpreting exercises. Working in groups with specific scenarios between German and English.. Note taking exercises for interpreting. Working on note-taking for consecutive interpreting.. Memory exercises. Developing memory and recall skills.. Presentation and public speaking skills. Working on skills for public speaking and speech delivery..
