This module seeks to introduce students to technologies and resources that will underpin their work at university, familiarise students with the concept of time management and planning, help students identify work patterns suited to their working styles, enable students to gather, interpret and present information, introduce students to academic writing skills (writing, reviewing, editing, referencing), enable students to reflect on their work practice and progress, foster group work by identifying common goals and working towards individual & group aims and help students become aware of motivating and organisational factors which affect learning

Learning Outcomes
1. Employ the DCU library catalogue in order to source reference material for a written essay.
2. Demonstrate ability to write an academic essay with appropriate structure, cohesive devices, language register, and critical appraisal
3. Demonstrate their familiarity with DCU citing and referencing guidelines by correctly recording the source of online and printed reference material in a written essay.
4. Critically assess tools and strategies involved in learning to learn
5. Report activities concerning management of learning related to linguistic, cultural and intercultural contexts in LOLIPOP portfolio
