INACTIVE - To develop an understanding of the emergence of modern America from its agricultural origins to the industrial superpower it is today. To analyse the events and personalities that have fashioned contemporary America, both politically and economically.

Learning Outcomes
1. Discuss the evolution of America from its humble beginnings to the hegemonic position it holds in world society today
2. Analyse and evaluate the forces that have shaped Modern America
3. Critique these forces with references to academic literature
