Description
This module builds on EU Law (LG318) by exploring further constitutional, administrative, social and economic aspects of EU law and policy. The module aims to reflect critically on the nature of EU law and the place of Europe within current debates about globalisation and the 'new world order'.The module aims to discussnewer areas of EU competence such as the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice andnew forms of law-making in the EU.The module analyses further the various social, economic and political underpinnings of EU law, focusing particularly on issues of citizenship and identityThe module introduces and analyses the role of the EU in regard to competition law and policy

Learning Outcomes
1. Appraise the reach and impact of EU law on issues of sovereignty, identity, and fundamental rights.
2. Critically assess the possible future development of the EU in areas such as foreign policy, defence, and justice and home affairs.
3. Appreciate the social, economic and political perspectives that underlie developments in EU law.
4. Appreciate the detailed requirements of EU competition law, as well as the dynamic nature of changing developments in this area.
5. Apply legal principles to factual scenarios.
