INACTIVE - This course provides an accessible overview and rigorous examination of Irish foreign policy since independence. It explores the key assumptions and doctrines underpinning the conduct of Irish foreign policy and the key bilateral and multi-lateral external engagements of the Irish state since independence.

Learning Outcomes
1. Recognise key aspects of Irish foreign policy since independence
2. Determine the dynamics of foreign policy formulation in Ireland
3. Assess the key assumptions and doctrines underpinning the conduct of Irish foreign policy.
4. Identify emerging issues for Ireland in European and international affairs.
5. Evaluate current and future foreign policy dilemmas in the light of Ireland's experience.
