Description
Multiple layers of intra-state and inter-state conflicts in South Asia are not only interwoven with each other but also are connected to the emerging forms of global politics in the world. This cause will examine, both from a historical and a contemporary point of view, the local, regional and global interconnectedness within South Asian conflicts and the challenges these pose to human rights, democracy, cultural diversity, economic development, peaceful coexistence and regional and global interdependence.

Learning Outcomes
1. Comprehend the interconnectedness of the political and cultural dynamics of intra-state and inter-state conflicts in South Asia from a historical and a contemporary perspective. Eight countries will be taken into consideration; Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
2. Compare and Contrast the specificities and commonalities of the conflicts in the region
3. Analyse the impact of colonialism and the present phase of globalisation on the region
4. Identify the issues of human rights, democracy, economic development, cultural diversity, state-building and peaceful coexistence in the region
