Description
The project on the European Business programme at DCUBS is intended to be a central and integrating element of the degree. It is a year long module designed to afford students the opportunity to exercise their creative, questioning, analytic, and writing skills in a focused and practical manner. It is also intended to give students the chance to develop an in-depth understanding of some specific topic related to business.At the end of the academic year (comprising two semesters) you are required to;1. Produce a written document consisting around 10,000 words2. Present your work to examiners in a formal 15 minute presentation

Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate a sound grasp of the theoretical principles affecting a defined area of business.
2. Produce a written research document consisting around 10,000 words
3. Present your work to examiners in a formal 15 minute presentation
4. Synthesise existing sets of knowledge
5. Demonstrate a capacity for original thought, logical argument and the ability to discuss objectively and rigorously
6. Perform primary research to explore further specific aspects of a business problem.
7. Reference all materials cited, using Harvard style

Discussion will cover the key text for the module as noted on moodle - Resesarch Methods for Business Students 4e, by Saunders, Lewis and Thornhill with accompanying class exercises and presentations including 1. the nature of business and management research 2. formulating and clarifying the research topic by using DCU's Business library 3.critically reviewing the literature 4. understanding research philosophies 5. formulating research design 6. negotiating access and research ethics 7.selecting samples and secondary data 8. Data collection 9. Data Analysis10. Writing up the project-11. Preparing for presentation and oral.
