Description
To establish the place of Parametric Solid Modelling and CAD in the design cycle. To familiarise the students with standard design elements and their integration into mechanical systems. To develop students understanding of Computer Aided Design Analysis and Machining techniques and relate these in the design / manufacturing process.

Learning Outcomes
1. Apply computer aided design applications, in particular parametric solid modelling techniques, to assist the design process
2. Assemble different parts, by Parametric Solid Modelling
3. Identify the role of CAD, CAE and CAM in the design process.
4. Exchange data between CAD and CAM systems.
5. Relate how CAM works and how to manufacture a component using CAM
6. Be able to write a report and present a project for both CAD and CAM (team base project)
