Description
To build on Mechanics of Machines 1 by addingPower transmission: gears, belts, clutches.Balancing of shaftsGyroscopic motionDynamics (vibration) of mechanical systems in free, forced and damped modesMeasurement of properties of dynamic systems

Learning Outcomes
1. Analyse and design power transmissions using gears, clutches and belts.
2. Balance shafts statically and dynamically using vector calculus
3. Calculate the natural frequency, damped frequency of single degree of freedom systems
4. Design a vibration isolation system and calculate the response to input forces
5. Undertake laboratory practicals and report scientifically on them in reports and poster form
