Description
This module aims to equip students with an understanding of emerging technologies and their likely impact on business. It explores the idea of innovation and enterprise with particular reference to the ICT sector and development of business plans.

Learning Outcomes
1. Understand the role and importance of Business Enterprise in Society and particularly in the Irish Context
2. Understand the process of innovation as experienced in the business and societal context.
3. Understand the role and characteristics of the entrepreneur.
4. Understand the process of developing a business idea with particular reference to the internet world
5. Be able to review and evaluate the usefulness of emerging technologies from the ICT sectors to business and society
6. Be capable of developing and preparing a professional quality Business Plan.
7. Understand the key issues and factors which are used in the business planning process.
8. Understand and be able to use appropriately the various professional relationships which are involved in the development and setting up of a new business.
9. Be capable of presenting a Business Plan to prospective investors so as to obtain backing and funding.
