Description

In this module, students will select and carry out a project linking mathematics with education. This will usually be in the context of the Irish second level mathematics syllabus. The project will combine mathematical content knowledge, teaching experience, pedagogical knowledge and the use of technology.

Learning Outcomes

1. Design and plan the execution of a mathematics education project.
2. Design a useful tool for the teaching of mathematics.
3. Assess the effectiveness of their teaching tools.
4. Apply appropriate research methods to the design and assessment of their project.
5. Produce clear, user-friendly mathematical teaching documents and presentations.
