Description
The aim of the subject is that upon successful completion, the candidate should understand strategic concepts in the management of the business activities of financial institutions and programmes, including the processes for management of the various types of risk faced, and be able to analyse the issues and formulate, justify and present plausible and appropriate solutions to business problems. A further aim is to encourage the development of independent actuarial thought and judgment in dealing with practical situations which actuaries might face in their daily work. Other aims include: laying the foundations for further actuarial courses, and to relate the course material to some topical real life situations; and to cover revision and exam technique appropriate for actuarial exams; and to enable students to gain exemption from subject CA1 of the professional examinations of the Institute and the Faculty of Actuaries (together with module MS520).
