Description
The aim of this introductory course is to discuss the nature of management and set out the main theoretical perspectives on management principles, concepts and techniques.The module uses a business simulation software that will give students the opportunity to run a fictional company.

Learning Outcomes
1. Discuss the main theoretical perspectives principles, concepts, and techniques relating to management.
2. Describe the nature of organisations, their structure and management.
3. Discuss the concept of strategy and the strategy process.
4. Explain and apply different tools and techniques for analysing the relevant forces in the competitive and general business environment.
5. Discuss how people influence others by using personal skills and/or power
6. Discuss the development and management of teams in organisations
7. Demonstrate and evaluate how separate decisions taken in areas such as marketing, finance or production planning impact on the overall business.
