Description
This module will explore and evaluate common theories and frameworks used to help understand the complexities of the structure and functions of modern organisations. In particular, the course will explore key tensions at three different levels: Macro Perspectives explores strategy, external and internal analysis, as well as the values and purpose of organisations, Micro Perspectives explores culture and change, leadership, people management and the structuring of organisations and Critical Perspectives: explores strategy as a discourse and the ideology of management

Learning Outcomes
1. Achieve a broad understanding of key theories and concepts in organisation theory
2. Evaluate the strengths and limitations of the various theoretical frameworks and models
3. Develop an appreciation of the relationship between the theory and practice of organisations
4. Develop a critical perspective on management and organisations
