Operations management involves the systematic planning, designing and operating, controlling and improving the processes that transform inputs into finished goods and services. Managing operations is critical to the success of all types of organisations, from manufacturing through to services. Operations management is increasingly encapsulated in an international context. This module aims to demonstrate and critically evaluate the role of operations management and its contribution to business competitiveness in an international context. 1. Critically appraise the role and contribution of the operations function in modern businesses 2.
