Description
This module gives students an understanding of the processes and activities involved in co-ordinating the inter-organisational response required in managing emergencies. The need for collaboration in response to major emergencies is clearly evident. Accomplishing such collaboration among disparate and diverse agencies and individuals is not always easy. The means by which this might be accomplished and the issues encountered in achieving effective collaboration are considered in this module.

Learning Outcomes
1. Determine and critique a theoretical framework for the management and co-ordination of inter-organisational response to emergency management
2. Verify the key socio-cultural issues which are significant when co-ordinating an inter-organisational response to emergencies
3. Critique the key applied and theoretical studies of collaborative work and inter-organisational responses to emergencies
4. Recommend a model for command and control of emergency response at local, regional and central government level
