Description
This module will provide the student with the opportunity to practice basic nursing skills under supervision in the real healthcare context. The student will be able to participate as a member of the nursing team and the wider multidisciplinary team. The student will be supported in the clinical area by the clinical nurse manager, registered nurses, a named preceptor, a clinical placement co-ordinator. The student will behave in a professional manner at all times while on clinical placement.

Learning Outcomes
1. Practice the basic skills associated with creating and maintaining a safe environment for patients under supervision of a qualified staff nurse
2. Participate in assisting patients with activities of daily living under supervision.
3. Participate under supervision in interventions relating to the promotion of skin integrity.
4. Utilise a range of techniques in communicating with people in the healthcare setting
5. Negotiate with the preceptor appropriate learning objectives relevant to the specific placement
6. Participate under supervision in basic nursing inteventions appropriate to your scope of practice
