Description
This module will enable study to reflect, explore, debate and discuss the social and professional factors that influence the making and breaking of mental health and mental distress.

Learning Outcomes
1. Explore the area of mental health and illness through the lens of gender, race, age, culture, ethnicity and sexuality
2. Discuss the theoretical frameworks which enable a broader understanding and gives meaning to mentalhealth and/or distress
3. Debate how social problems have become mental health categories for professionals
