Description
This module aims to assist students develop skills in assessing and engaging with people experiencing mental health problems; and to develop the capacity and skills to form relationships which are therapeutic.

Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate knowledge and skills required for assessing people with commonly experienced mental health problems.
2. Demonstrate skills in helping people to articulate their stories and their needs.
3. Identify presenting needs and problems based on information obtained in assessment.
4. Display ability to plan and implement care in collaboration with service users, families and healthcare team.
5. Identify factors that contribute to a therapeutic relationship.
6. Demonstrate empathy and basic therapeutic skills in relation to people who experience mental health problems.
