Description
This module will enable students to expand their knowledge and understanding of nursing practice and by integrating nursing theory and practice will develop competence in nursing skills.

Learning Outcomes
1. Provide family-centered nursing care to the child with a variety of healthcare needs in the medical-surgical setting.
2. Begin to apply research findings to nursing practice.
3. Contribute to the multi-disciplinary team including the dissemination of relevant information to other members of the team both verbally and in writing.
4. Interact appropriately with the child and family and other members of the healthcare organisation
5. In specialist areas demonstrate the ability to communicate with clients/families and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
6. Demonstrate an understanding of the role of the nurse / midwife in the specialist area.
