This module provides the student with opportunities to integrate and expand existing nursingknowledge and skills in caring for a variety of patients/client groups in a variety of settingsand to develop competence in care delivery within their scope of practice. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

1. Demonstrate integration of nursing knowledge and skills in the provision of nursing care. 2. Use iniatitive in providing nursing care to a variety of patients/client groups in a variety of settings. 3. Show ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of patients/client groups, families and team members. 4. Contribute to the multidisciplinary team in an assertive and professional manner. 5. Understand the role of the nurse / midwife in a variety of care settings. 6. Opportunities will be provided for students to. •Become competent in nursing skills•Participate in the organisation and delivery of nursing care•Reflect on personal performance in order to improve practice•Participate as part of the team•Utilise research findings in delivery of nursing careOpportunities in Specialist Areas:•Observe and question the specialist nurse / midwife about what they do and why they do it•Develop a knowledge of the specialist area•Participate with the specialist nurse / midwife in delivery of service•Reflect upon their own feelings when faced with individuals with complex needs•Communicate effectively with clients, families and other members of the multidisciplinary team•Where appropriate participate in case conferences. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
