Description
Using enquiry/problem based learning this module aims to develop students knowledge and skills in the care of children with acute and chronic illness in partnership with the child, family and multidisciplinary team

Learning Outcomes
1. Describe the role of the childrens nurse in relation to the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care to children with acute and chronic illness in a variety of health care settings.
2. Examine the pathophysiological processes in the child with acute and chronic illness and relate them to the delivery of nursing care.
3. Evaluate the role of the childrens nurse in meeting the health promotion and education needs of the child and family with acute or chronic illness.
4. Explain the effects of acute and chronic illness on the child and family from a physical, social, psychological and emotional perspective.
5. Discuss the contribution of the multidisciplinary team in the care of children with acute and chronic illness.
