Description
This module will enable students to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for teaching and assessing learners in clinical practice. The student will develop knowledge in relation to the learning and teaching journey. The students will reflect on their own learning styles and their ability as a facilitator of learning. The student will develop knowledge and skills in relation to developing a quality clinical learning environment and to supporting learners in the clinical area.Students will complete two essays, one at end of each semester. Part A will comprise an essay of 1500 words. Students will critically evaluate their teaching skills in practice (learning outcomes addressed 1,2,3). Part B at end of semester 2 will require the student to write a critically reflective essay of 1000 words on their development as an assessor in the workplace during the course of the module (learning outcomes addressed 4,5,6).

Learning Outcomes
1. Examine the common learning theories as they relate to teaching and learning in the clinical area
2. Evaluate your own skills as a teacher and assessor in the clinical area
3. Reflect on a teaching/learning situation in the clinical area where you were the facilitator of learning
4. Analyse the process of assessing in the clinical area.
5. Analyse the role of preceptorship and clinical supervision with regard to teaching and assessing
6. Analyse the factors that promote the development of a high quality learning environment
