Description
This module will foster knowledge; skills and attitudes for care delivery in both general and specialist nursing practice settings. Students will undertake clinical practice placements in a variety of settings providing them with experience in a wide range of nursing specialties from which they will be exposed to models of care delivery distinct to the area in question. They will be provided with opportunity to further enhance essential skills developed during the course of their programme, and where supervision by a registered nurse will afford them the scope to engage in safe and efficient care delivery. They will be expected to contribute to the nursing team in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care (where deemed appropriate) in an effort to optimize patient outcomes during the caring episode. They will play a role where possible, in ensuring care delivery is based on the best available evidence and assist in promoting a safe environment where risks to patients are minimized in the care delivery setting.

2. Reflect on challenges that can present in nursing practice.
3. Develop competence in nursing skills appropriate to specified levels and relevant practice setting.
4. Identify specialist nursing roles and their implications on practice.
