Description
This module is the first phase of the Internship. It will extend over a period of 18 weeks. During the 18 weeks you will be allocated to two clinical settings each of 8 weeks duration. This module provides you with the opportunity to manage a patient caseload under the supervision of your preceptor. Taking the caseload helps you to take responsibility for providing and delivering nursing care for your allocated patients. The module enables you to consolidate your learning through participation in the nursing team and in the interdisciplinary team processes.This module helps you achieve competence in the clinical learning environment through supports,assessing, planning and delivery of patient care and by participation and engagement in clinical nursing practice.

Learning Outcomes
1. Accept responsibility for the nursing care of a caseload of patients / clients
2. Apply research-based knowledge to nursing care planning and interventions
3. Demonstrate competence in more complex nursing procedures, including medication managment
4. Participate in the delivery of health promotion / health education activities relevant to the clinical setting
5. Contribute to the decision making and care planning processes of the interdisciplinary team
6. Identify personal support and professional development needs
