Description
You the student nurse in intellecutal disability will work in the clinical setting for 18 weeks where you will have an opportunity to assess, plan, evaluate and implement nursing care to a high standard. During this module you will have the opportunity to complete the drug evidence or the nursing care plan evidence with the support of your Preceptor. This module is about showing that you can function competently at level 4 showing that you are integrating both practice and theory, giving safe evidenced based nursing care.

Learning Outcomes
1. Assess, plan, and prioritise nursing care for people with intellectual disability.
2. Implement and evaluate nursing care given to people with intellectual disability.
3. Demonstrate competence in clinical nursing skills.
4. Document competently nursing care delivered according to local guidelines.
5. Relate research findings to nursing practice.
6. Complete the care plan or drug evidence assessment.

You will have opporutnities to demonstrate your capacity to complete the daily workload with minimum supervision.

Expressing Opinions.
You will have opporutniites to take part in nursing team decision making providing input that includes articulating best practice..

Nursing Interventions.
You will have opportunities to initiate involvement in nursing interventions on the unit under the guidance of your preceptor..

Porfolio and Evidence.
You will complete a portfolio that includes pars, learning plans and reflections on practice and you will also complete your drug or care plan evidence..
