Description
The module will enable students working within a multidisciplinary team environment and within their scope of practice to develop therapeutic mental health nursing skills, demonstrate autonomous practice in assessment, planning and delivering care, and to critically evaluate practice in order to improve service delivery.

Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate therapeutic communication skills in practice
2. Identify and utilise appropriate evidence based mental health practices in routine mental health care
3. Engage in multidisciplinary team discussion, care planning and delivery
4. Identify own personal support and professional development needs and access appropriate support resources
5. Demonstrate knowledge of the main classes of psychiatric drugs, their expected effects, side effects, interactions and nursing considerations in routine care
