Description
The aim of this module is to provide the student with an opportunity to recognise and evaluate their own learning needs and learn how to take responsibility for lifelong professional development. Students will explore how they can identify and use opportunities for continuous learning and personal development. Students will be discussing how to work independently and use professional networks to support their practice. This module affords students an opportunity to learn how to reflect upon their practice and identify gaps in their understanding and the confidence to deal with these. Students will learn how appraise their work and the work of peers and colleagues; This module will also address how to use experienced colleagues as informal networks of support to enhance professional development. Students will be expected to attend class, actively contribute in class to discussions, read selected texts and engage in individual study.

Learning Outcomes
1. Appraise the concept of adult learning
2. Evaluate the notion of lifelong professional development
3. Analyse factors that contribute to and prevent the development of a high quality learning enviornment for students in particular and others in general.
4. Explore the different types of assessment used to facilitate learning .
5. Examine what it means to be a preceptor and explore other ways of supporting students in clinical practice.
