Description
This module enables sectoral managers to enhance their management/ leadership practice and develop proficiency in operational supervision of key workers involved in implementing Homeless Agency assessment and support planning protocols. It is delivered through a mixture of lectures and seminars and is closely connected to students practice based work. This modules is suitable for managers working in homeless sector services.

Learning Outcomes
1. Critique styles of management and leadership (including personal style) and discuss their impact on organisational culture and performance
2. Analyse the strategic and socio-political contexts of organizations and undertake strategic/change management in relation to their own organization
3. Discuss project management techniques used in their own practice including goal setting, working collaboratively intra and inter agency, risk and contingency planning, managing project resources and project communication structures.
4. Demonstrate proficiency in the operational supervision of key working staff involved with Homeless Agency assessment and support planning protocols
5. Implement approaches to performance management, decision-making, risk management and problem solving that involve flexible and creative practice.
6. Communicate with individuals and teams in a way that promotes productive work performance and respectful relationships.

Networking and collaborative relationships• Strategic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation• Mechanisms and dynamics of decision-making, risk management and problem solving• Change management and dealing with the outcomes of change.• Project management techniques; goal setting, scoping work breakdown structures, work planning and organisation, risk and contingency planning, managing project resources and project communication structures..

Staff supervision and support.
Homeless Agency Holistic Needs Assessment and Support Planning process and the managers role• Mentoring and supporting the learning/professional development needs of staff• Frameworks, process and practices of supervision and performance appraisal• Managing own personal/ professional development and supervision needs.

Teamworking.
Professional interpersonal communication with individuals and groups/teams; influencing, listening, conflict management, negotiation and persuasion.• Team and group working including team/group dynamics, processes and behaviours.• Team management skills and techniques including consensus management, fostering group/team cohesiveness and productivity, identifying and addressing individual members strengths and needs in group/team contexts..
