INACTIVE - This module is to enable students to develop an understanding of strategic management in the healthcare context and apply to a defined area of practice.

Learning Outcomes
1. Critically review the concept, content and context of strategy.
2. Identify organisational theories and relate these to the Irish health care settings.
3. Examine a health care organisations mission, philosophy, values and future vision.
4. Identify the context of health care organisations with regard to culture and the impact of international, national and local trends, threats and opportunities.
5. Analyse health care organisations and their relationship with the strategic management process.
6. Identify the contribution strategic management can make to success both for organisations and individuals.
7. Examine the purpose and limitations of organisational strategy with consideration to ethical practice.
