Description
Students will critique their roles in the provision of quality care to individuals of all ages within blood donation and transfusion practice.This module may be taken as a stand alone module on the professional development framework or may be taken as a module as part of the Graduate Diploma in Nursing/ Health Care Practice. Students will receive lectures from a variety of sources including experts in the area of haemovigilance nationally, and practitioners working in the area of haemovigilance. There are also opportunities to take elements of this module using on line learning facilities.

Learning Outcomes
1. Relate the concepts of quality management systems to donation and transfusion practice.
2. Asses your area of practice in relation to risk, using risk management tools.
3. Appraise the influences of the following;interprofessional working, organisational processes and values on modern transfusion medicine.
4. In consultation with the practice supervisor, analyse a practice challenge;prepare a report on your findings and recommendations to communicate to an interdisciplinary audience.
5. Critique the impact of national and international regulations on blood donation and transfusion practice.
