Description
To provide a critical appraisal of clinical practice in the urgent care setting with specific reference to specialist patient groups including children, mental health crises, medical emergencies and multiple emergencies.Students are expected to critically engage in classes using relevant experiences,review selected reading as required ,attend skills teaching sesssions and self directed learning .

Learning Outcomes
1. Appraise a range of clinical protocols for their application to specialist groups.
2. Critique frameworks, approaches and strategies underpinning the process of diagnosis, including structured clinical examination, radiology, blood analysis.
3. Analyse a range of interventions necessary for the effective management of specialist groups (including ALS).
4. Evaluate the medico legal aspects of paediatric and psychiatric emergency care.
5. Evaluate the role of the ANP in the event of amajor incident
6. Identify issues which challenge /support the professional role development of the Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
