Description

This module provides the student with advanced knowledge and skills relating to nursing the person with diabetes.

Learning Outcomes

1. Evaluate bio-psychosocial and environmental factors influencing the health ofpeople with or at risk of diabetes;
2. Appraise the various approaches to practice development and innovationincluding, medical, nursing, paramedical and pharmacological advances.
3. Articulate a range of behavioural change/adjustment strategies in enabling effective self managementfor the client group and their families.
4. Evaluate the key issues underpinning relevant health and social policy issues that effect people with diabetes.
5. Critique the role of the multi-disciplinary team and the interface between primary,secondary and tertiary health sectors in the effective management of diabetes and the supportof the client group.
