Description
The purpose of this module is to provide participants with a broad introduction to the fundamental concepts of experimental design and analysis. In this module students will develop knowledge and skills relating to statistical analysis, Taguchi design and various other design approaches, process analysis methodologies, and process control systems used in modern industrial processes.Students are expected to access all course material online, participate in online discussion groups where they can discuss the course material and set problems relating to the course material, and participate in various learning activities and continuous assessment tasks on a regular basis.

Learning Outcomes
1. Describe various basic statistical tests of population and sample data.
2. Explain the Taguchi approach to quality and robust design in manufacturing .
3. Outline various design of experiment approaches used in industry.
4. Discuss industrial control systems.
5. Recognise the various Statistical process control tools used in manufacturing.
6. Perform numerical calculations of relevent quantities.
7. Relate the material covered to methods used in manufacturing and other industries.
8. Communicate the material covered and its applications to their colleagues.
