Description
This module sets the level A1 from the Common European Framework of Reference as the minimum exit level. The module aims to introduce students to Spanish language and culture and over the course of the academic year it will provide students with key grammatical structures and appropriate vocabulary relating to a variety of topics and situations. Students are expected to attend lectures and engage actively in interactive classroom activities.

Learning Outcomes
1. Construct and respond to basic questions in Spanish.
2. Describe character and physical traits.
3. Express opinion about likes and dislikes.
4. Demonstrate an understanding of basic social Hispanic conventions.
5. Access basic Spanish language information sources, including library and online materials
6. Demonstrate an understanding of short and simple texts in Spanish.
7. Demonstrate ability to communicate with regard to events/ideas in the past, present and future in both oral and written format.
