Description
This module sets the level A1 from the Common European Framework of Reference as the minimum exit level. The module aims to build on the competences and skills previously acquired and to introduce students to new features of the language and aspects of the culture. Students will be familiarised with a wider range of everyday situations which go beyond those previously encountered and which will require the use of additional linguistic skills, including the knowledge of additional tenses. The module also aims to further students language learning strategies. Students are expected to attend lectures and engage actively in interactive classroom activities.

Learning Outcomes
1. Show skills to cope with a range of basic everyday situations, including the ability to discuss daily routines.
2. Access basic Spanish language information sources, including library and online materials
3. Demonstrate an understanding of short and simple texts in Spanish.
4. Acknowledge differences in the use of Spanish language internationally.
5. Demonstrate ability to communicate with regard to events/ideas in the past, present and future in both oral and written format.
6. Construct and respond to basic questions in Spanish.

Indicative Content and Learning Activities
Introduction and review.
Students will firstly recap on the content covered in the previous (SP101) module and will be presented with topics to be covered in this module..

Oral skills development.
Increasing attention will be given to developing students' oral communication competencies through interactive discussions, role-plays and conversation..

Grammar.
Students will be introduced to more complex grammatical constructions, including new tenses, such as the present perfect and the continuous present..

Vocabulary development.
Students will be introduced to vocabulary which is relevant to a broad variety of contexts and will develop greater competence in expressing their personal opinions in Spanish..
