Description
This module sets the level A2 from the Common European Framework of Reference as its minimum exit level. It aims to introduce students to some of the essential aspects of culture and society of Hispanic-speaking countries. Students will be familiarised with a range of everyday situations requiring the use of specified linguistic skills. Students will be guided in the development of a range of language learning strategies and transferable skills, such as independent learning.

Learning Outcomes
1. Identify economic, social and cultural similarities and differences between Ireland and Hispanic-speaking countries.
2. Demonstrate listening skills by showing understanding of phrases and simple messages in everyday contexts.
3. Extract information from a variety of basic written texts.
4. Employ effective communication skills in a range of social situations.
5. Produce short texts, for example personal emails, and write short basic description of events, [present and past] activities and personal experiences.
