Description
This module sets the level A1-A2 from the Common European Framework of Reference as its minimum exit level. The module aims to build on the competences and skills previously acquired and to introduce students to new features of the language and aspects of the culture. Students will be familiarised with a wider range of everyday situations which go beyond those previously encountered and which will require the use of additional linguistic skills. The module also aims to develop further students language learning strategies.

Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate an understanding of the gist of written texts
2. Employ effective communication skills in a range of social situations
3. Produce short texts at an A2 level, which may include dialogue, narrative and letter or e-mails.
4. Establish parallelisms and contrasts between their culture and Hispanic cultures
5. Reflect on the language learning strategies.

Indicative Content and Learning Activities
Communicative situations related to everyday interaction.
Increasingly complex target language structures in areas such as the tenses of the indicative mood not covered in Semester 1, common impersonal verbs, further exposure to the pronoun system.

Essential notions of target culture as they arise in the communicative situations referred to above.
More in-depth sociolinguistic awareness.

Increased language awareness.
Language learning strategies e.g. setting learning and monitoring language learning goals.
