Review of socio-historical and cultural background. This section revises and expands on key twentieth and twenty-first century events that influenced cultural production during the period in which the text or film was produced.. Narrative discourse. How do narrative features function in text and film? In relation to the texts and films studied, students will examine the "mechanics" behind the text: e.g. role of author/director, types of narrators and focalization.. Literary texts and films. The literary texts and film read/viewed and analysed will be considered both as literary/artistic works but also as documenting essential aspects of the society in which they were produced. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
