Description
Module Aims:This module aims to teach the student: How to create and maintain clinical records. How to use the principles and techniques of logic and problem solving techniques in history taking and clinical assessment of injuries. Detailed functional anatomy of the spine and upper limb. Detailed surface anatomy of the spine and upper limb. The principles and techniques of clinical assessment of spine and upper limb injuries with a view to making an accurate diagnosis.

Learning Outcomes
1. Describe the functional anatomy of the spine and upper limb
2. Describe and identify the surface anatomy of the spine and upper limb
3. Describe and apply the principles and techniques of creating and maintaining clinical records
4. Use principles of logic and problem solving in clinically examining a patient with an injury of the spine or upper limb
5. Clinically examine the spine and upper limb
6. Describe the typical mechanisms, signs and symptoms of upper limb and spinal injuries

Indicative Content and Learning Activities
Functional anatomy of the upper limb and spine.
The assessment (consultation, history taking and clinical examination) of upper limb and spinal injuries.

Spinal, sacroiliac joint, shoulder girdle, elbow, wrist, hand and nerve injuries of the upper limb related to sporting and physical activity.
