Description
This module will introduce the students to the spectrum of musculoskeletal injuries that can affect the sports participant. The clinical features, treatment and rehabilitation of these injuries will be explained. The interaction of selected medical conditions (asthma, epilepsy and diabetes) with sport will also be discussed

Learning Outcomes
1. Define and classify sports injuries
2. Describe the clinical features, treatment and rehabilitation of common sports injuries
3. Discuss the classification of sports injuries
4. Discuss the initial treatment of sports injuries according to the RICE (rest, ice, compress, elevate) regine
5. Describe the clinical features and treatment of exacerbations of selected medical conditions (namely asthma, epilepsy and diabetes) that may occur during sports participation
6. Discuss the principles of injury prevention
